Pismo Coast Village Celebrated 20-Year Anniversary

In 1975, the Pismo Coast Village Corporation engaged in the business of owning and operating a 400 space recreation-vehicle park in Pismo Beach, California. Today it celebrates 20 years of successful operation and has an annual gross revenue in excess of $2 million.

In the words of Board President Ronald L. Nunlist, "The first board of directors, 20 years ago, had a vision. They wanted to bring our park from the reality of bankruptcy to becoming a park that was self-sustaining and a haven for stockholders from their everyday routines. Not only has their dream been realized, but exceeded. Many additions and improvements have been made during the recent years, with many more being planned for the future.

The first board of directors selected Norm Gould as its first board president in 1976 and by 1977, the Corporation had paid off its $1 million mortgage from Mission Federal Savings and Loan, celebrating the event with a ceremonial mortgage burning at the annual meeting.

Pismo Coast Village, Inc., had a strong Board of Directors consisting of 18 dedicated individuals who have guided the Corporation to its current success. The following directors have served over 15 years: Howard Allard has served 15 years, three as President and two as Secretary; Donald Bianchi has served for 18 years, Norman Gould has served 17 years, nine as President, one as Treasurer and two as Secretary; Edward Hinds Jr., has served 15 years, three as Secretary and Earl Lowery has served 18 years, two as Vice President.

Currently President Ronald Nunlist has served on the Board for 10 years, three years as President and Past President Charles Zahka has served on the Board for 7 years, one as President and one as Secretary.

Pismo Coast Village offers a limited number of Camping ownerships as shares in the Corporation. Each stockholder receives a minimum of 45 days of free camping each year with preferred site reservations and ownership in the business. Ownership shares are limited to 1,800 and currently the number of company stockholders is 1,580 with many stockholders owning multiple shares.

Since the early years, the company has continued developing the campground into the premier resort it is today adding a family restaurant, video arcade, miniature golf course, self service laundry facility, TV parts and service center, an RV wash and spray-wax facility, satellite TV on all 400 sites and a heated swimming pool. Each service center is asked to generate sufficient revenue to support its own operation and produce a profit.

Current expansion at the resort involves increasing RV storage space and trailer moving capability. To date, some 800 units of storage are available to RVers. The company continues to enhance RV sites improving or replacing parking pads, and plans to install a new playground, street lights and is focusing on upgrading and networking its computer system.

Blaine Forrest has served as General Manager of Pismo Coast Village for 9 years and holds the title of Certified Park Operator. Mr. Forrest also has served on the Board of Directors of the California Travel Parks for 8 years and was president for 2 years.

Pismo Coast Village is a family oriented resort dedicated to providing quality service for its guests and stockholders, while being an active leader in both the RV industry and business community if Pismo Beach, California.
